I am 86-months old today!
This month started off not so great. I got the FLU! I missed three days of school. Cara was sick too. It was a little rough at our house and not so fun. Fortunately we all got back on our feet.
I have been playing basketball since December. It is with my school friends and mostly the same group of kids I played with last summer. Mom is amazed at our improvement. I have scored some points, but I have gotten really good at rebounding. My team is doing well and I have had a lot of fun playing.
The other activity I have been a part of the last few months is Destination Imagination. DI is an opportunity to work with a small group of kids to solve a problem and create a performance to showcase what we came up with. Mom is our co-team manager with another friend’s mom. It has been fun working on a challenge together and our big performance is the end of February. Here is a photo of my team. We call ourselves the “Blue Lightsabres!” We made a foosball table out of other items that we came up with and put together.
Another exciting thing that happened this month was that I was name “Marvelous Maverick” from my class! I was nominated by my teacher. Here is what her nomination said, “Sean has a positive attitude in everything. Sean gives his best in all he does. I appreciate his hard work and great attitude. Way to go Sean! ~Mrs. Beach” We are really proud of him too. Grandma was able to come to the presentation. It was also the morning of my 1st grade performance!
This month we also went back to the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. We took cousin Emily with us and had a terrific time together. There are so many incredible interactive exhibits that allow you to explore the many areas of science. Very cool.
We have been lucky with some warmer weather here in Texas the last couple of weeks. Cara and I love to play outside as much as possible. I like to play football and soccer outside – especially with my Dad. Cara is an amazing swinger. She can swing really good and it is something she loves to do. She also loves riding her bike. I think she also just likes to wear her princess helmet. Cara has also become quite the artist! She is doing so good with coloring and even writing. She really likes making all of us cards and Valentine’s complete with people, rainbows and lost of hearts. She is doing great with her gymnastics class too! Grandma signed her up for a ballet class and she is enjoying that as well. She is disappointed that there are only “quiet” shoes and not tap shoes! ha ha!
We also celebrated 100 days of school! We had to create something that had 100 objects on it. I made a scene from the “Dude Perfect” app. I used 100 basketballs to show the trajectory of the ball as it goes through the scene. It was pretty cool and I was proud of it. I am working on my invention for our next class project. Dad is working on that one with me.
Spring training has started! We had our first baseball practice last week. I am looking forward to a great season!
