I am 85-months old today
Another month and a new year! Happy 2013! December is always my most favorite month of the year. Between my birthday and Christmas, what’s not to love? Plus, we get a break from school and this year got to take a trip to visit our New York family!
There are so many fun things that we do before Christmas each year. This year was no exception. We decorated cookies at our house, had the annual cookie decorating contest at Grandma’s house (AND, I won in the kids’ division this year!), put up the tree, decorating gingerbread houses, participating in our church’s Christmas pageant and the fun-family viewing of all the great Christmas shows including our favorites the Grinch and Charlie Brown Christmas. We get to spend a lot of time with family during the holidays, which I love.
In our church’s Christmas pageant this year, I was an angel and Cara was a pig. Never saw a Nativity pig before! She did pretty good in the pageant and sang a lot of the songs. She did look pretty cute in her piggy costume! After the pageant, we all came back to our house for a big family dinner. I love having everyone over.
The next day was Christmas Eve. We went to church and then to Grandma and Grandpap’s house. Mom says this is about as good as we ever look, so we take a lot of photos on Christmas Eve! Do you like my tie? I picked it out myself.
After we ate and visited for awhile, it was time to change in to pjs hand out presents! I was very excited for all my gifts this year. I got a Nintendo 3DS, which I really wanted along with some games. There were also lots of other games, books and toys that I have been enjoying. Cara got A LOT, and I mean A LOT, of princess stuff. It kind of takes over the house. After Grandma & Grandpap’s house, it was time to head home and hope that Santa would find his way to our house. He did! And wow, Cara and I must have been really good! I got football guys and a ticket to the Cotton Bowl from Santa! And Cara got a princess dress and a bike! We had Christmas brunch at our house and then another awesome Christmas gift came – it started to snow! A lot of snow!
Here’s video of Christmas morning that Dad made. Yes, Cara pretty much always wears a princess dress over her regular pjs.
Our next adventure was our trip to NY, unfortunately, it was delayed by the snow, but we managed to make it. We met Cailin, Sionain and Eirinn for lunch before heading upstate.
Once upstate, we had a great time! Cara and I loved playing with our cousins and it was fun seeing our NC Uncle Rich and his family. My Papa is home and he is doing well. I think Meema really liked seeing us too! We saw more snow and enjoyed ringing in the New Year with our cousins. Yes – we have two sets of twin cousins! In case you were seeing double!
One other fun part of going to NY is visiting some of the places that Mommy used to go when she was little and lived up here. We visited Krause’s candy and had lunch at Foster’s Coach House. We went by her old house that she lived in when she was both mine and Cara’s age!
We headed home on New Year’s day. I got to spend a day with Grandma just hanging out like we used to before I went to school. We played games and ate pancakes!
Going to the Cotton Bowl and watching the Aggies win was another highlight of the month! Plus, getting to see Johnny football was incredible. Cara did not join us for the game. She got to have a sleepover with cousin Emily. She was so excited and had been looking forward to that as much as I looked forward to the Cotton Bowl!
We spent the last day of Winter break exploring the new Perot science museum. It was incredible. Both Cara and I really enjoyed it.
WOW … like I said, what a month. Lots of good times and I know 2013 will be full of good things too. I wish all the best for you and your families!
until next month … love, Sean
