17 Months Old Today!

Hi everyone! I hope you are doing well! It is getting closer to summer here in Texas, which means it is getting hot!

I have some very exciting news to share with you … I am a big cousin again!! (I have become a big cousin FOUR times in the last nine months – that sure is a lot of babies. I think I started a trend … ) Emily Clare, Abbie’s sister was born yesterday afternoon, she is 19.5 inches long and weighs 7 lb 9 oz. Auntie Rachel is doing great and Uncle Rich is just thrilled! Abbie could not wait to show me her new sister when we went to visit last night. She is very proud and I know will be a great big sister. I liked Emily too, but Mommy would not let me touch her. I kept wanting to show her where her eyes and nose are, but Mommy kept moving my hands.

I had some important first’s this last month … I went to my first American League baseball game (Texas Rangers v. Oakland – April 22), then my first National League baseball game (Chicago Cubs v. Milwaukee). Our friends the Hodges were able to get us tickets to the Rangers game and so we went with them. Chase is my “Aggie” buddy from Gymboree, if you remember his picture from a few months ago.

Daddy had work in Chicago and since the conference was at a very swanky hotel off Michigan Avenue (Mommy’s favorite place to shop!), so we went! I had not been on a plane in six months, so Mommy and Daddy were not sure how that was going to work, but I was just fine. I loved the plane and now point to one whenever it goes overhead. Mommy and I had a very nice time while Daddy was working in Chicago. We seemed to eat and shop an awful lot. We swam in the hotel pool. I enjoyed looking down the 43 stories at the cars and buildings below. We could see the Sears tower from our window. We took a trolley tour of the city and saw where they were filming the next Batman movie. The highlight of the trip was going to Wrigley field for the Cubs game. I really enjoyed it. We stayed and sang “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” before getting on the “L” and heading home – it was about 45 degrees and raining and Mommy said enough was enough! I liked it though – Daddy also gave me some Cracker Jacks – which I really liked. The ride home was not as fun … there were storms, our plane was delayed three hours in O’Hare, then they added time to the flight, then the airlines lost my stroller and car seat … needless to say, it was a very long day. Mommy and Daddy were very proud of me. I just rolled with it. Good news, we found both the stroller and car seat!

Another great thing that I was able to do was go with Grandma and Grandpap to DFW airport (I did spend a lot of time in airports this last month) to welcome home soldiers from Iraq. I got to wave a flag. It was an honor to be there.

My Aunt Beth is doing well. She gave a speech at a big conference at school. When she was home one weekend, she watched her friend’s dog. It just so happened I was spending that day at Grandma’s house. I loved the dog and the dog loved me. They even let me take him for a walk!

I have been reading a lot lately. We are working on my speech too. This fall I will start pre-school one day a week. We were on a waiting list for the school Mommy wanted me to go to for several months, but I finally got in! This summer I have some travel plans. I am going to Orlando next week. Mommy and Daddy are speaking at a conference there and I am going with Grandma. She is going to take me to Disney World! I don’t know what that is, but it sure sounds fun!! Then we are going to NY to see my other new cousins – Jack, Brian, and Jessica – and attend their baptism! Just a couple days after we get home Mommy and Daddy are leaving for the other side of the world – Australia. They are working over there and will be gone for 10 days. Mommy seems to be very stressed about leaving me. But I will be with Grandma, so everything will be ok.

Hope you are all well,
Love, Sean
