I am 95-months old today!
This last month starts some of our most favorite celebrations of the year! Cara turned 5! YES, my little sister is now 5! We can hardly believe it. I remember meeting her in the hospital and holding her when she was just a few hours old. I would say for the most part Cara and I get along pretty well. There is the occasional disagreement, but we get it worked out pretty quickly – probably because Mom is around and tells us she is going to take away our electronics! Yeek!
Cara had an Angelina Ballerina birthday party. She took a few of her friends to the Eisemann Center for a production of Angelia Ballerina. They enjoyed cake and presents. After the party everyone came to our house for our family celebration for Cara’s and Grandpap’s birthday. It was great to have everyone here. Cara got an American Girl Doll for her birthday – she loves Rebecca. Rebecca goes just about everywhere with us. Mom says she draws the line at feeding Rebecca, but I think Rebecca sure has a lot of clothes and shoes for a doll.
Mom made a video for Cara’s 5th birthday filled with photos from her five years. Click here for the video.
I would also like to mention that Mom and Dad celebrated their 9th wedding anniversary this month! Their anniversary is the same date as Cara’s birthday. They had a nice dinner out and enjoyed a Saturday Night Live reunion performance with some of their friends.
Halloween is always an awesome time! Besides getting a lot of candy, it is another time when we get together with our family. We start Halloween off with meeting all of our friends at the park in the neighborhood. It is fun to see everyone in costume. From there, we kind of go our separate ways. We always head to cousin Abbie and Emily’s house for a Halloween party and then out to Trick-or-Treat. I love Halloween! Everyone dresses up and it is a good time. I was a basketball player this year. I really like to dress as different sports people! Cara was Wonder Woman and so was Mom! We were shocked when she came downstairs wearing a Wonder Woman costume. Cara was thrilled and is already planning their Mother-Daughter Halloween costume for next year! Grandma dressed as the solar system, complete with lights. Yes, we do know how to have a good time here! We also had a friend of Dad’s visit us, Tony Clark. Mr. Clark is writing a book on presidential libraries. When we were in D.C. a couple summers ago, he gave us the most fascinating tour of the Capitol. It was nice to see him and we hope he will be back soon.
There have been a few special events at school the last month too. The first, was our class performance. We sang the song “C’mon get happy.” Here is a complete video for your viewing pleasure.
Our school also hosted a family obstacle challenge called Trick or Trot and it included a pancake breakfast. You really don’t have to say much more than pancake breakfast for me to show up! It was fun to do with so many of my friends.
Every year, our school hosts a Veteran’s Day celebration honoring those who serve and have served our country. I have been so proud to bring my Grandpap the last three years. I get to stand up in front of a cafeteria full of people and introduce him. After the program, our Veteran walk through the school where all the kids are out waving flags and holding signs. It is really special. Here is me introducing Grandpap. I am wearing his Army shirt. Thank you to all those in uniform! Click here for the video.
Both Mom and Dad’s birthdays were also this month! I said there were a lot of celebrations! We celebrated with friends one night and then went to Grandma and Grandpap’s house for a family celebration. Mom came and had lunch at school with me on her birthday.
As for me, I am still playing baseball and we are wrapping up the season in the next couple of weeks. Our Destination Imagination team is in full swing and I have been enjoying that a lot too. Cara is finishing her cheerleading with a big performance next weekend, that should be fun! We went to an Allen Eagles football game and ended up running into a lot of my friends! I also went to the Allen vs. Plano (where Mom went to high school) game with Grandma, Grandpap and Aunt Beth. I was a little torn as to who to cheer for.
Cara has gotten to do a few more fun things with Mom. They have gone to the zoo and train story time. She plans something fun for them to do each Friday. Also, when you turn 5, you can get your own library card! Cara did enjoy that!
Have a terrific month and Happy Thanksgiving!
Love, Sean
