I am 78-months old today!
WOW – what a month this has been! So many exciting things to talk about. First, a big shout out to my Aunt Beth for graduating with her Masters degree. We had a big party at Grandma’s house to celebrate and it was very fun having Aunt Gail and Aunt Doll there. Our visit with our Aunts was very nice. They came and had lunch with me at school and they came to watch me at hockey skating practice. It is always nice to visit with family. Unfortunately my baseball games were rained out so they didn’t get to see me play ball. I guess they will have to come back again!
The last two weeks of school were so much fun. We had field day and a trip to an aquarium. Mom came and helped out at field day. We had a great day for it and I loved doing all the different activities.
Our class also had been working on our class performance the last couple of months. We sang a song, One Direction’s “You Don’t Know You’re Beautiful,” but changed a few of the lyrics and dedicated it to our mom’s … “You know I love you so much, Mommy!” You can watch the video here. It was a lot of fun and I do like singing the song whenever it comes on in the car. Also, at the assembly we sang at I was named the Marvelous Maverick for my class. I was so surprised! I took a nice picture with my Principal, Mrs. Walker, and my teacher Ms. Wright.
Our baseball team, the Royal Rangers, ended our spring season in Allen and we all were having such a great experience, we decided to play in a summer league in Plano. Our one coach is really creative and he made this awesome poster of all our team. It is great to play with all of my Marion kindergarten friends. Of course, the thing I love best of all is that my Dad is also one of the coaches.
We celebrated the last days of school in style. Our class had a party and we each received a certificate. We got to also tell what we liked best about school. I liked “Word Work” stations and “Specials”. I also liked making so many new friends. I listed them out one night before bed, all the new people I had met, and it was incredible! It is going to make summer lots of fun. Mom put together a slide show for our class. If you want to watch it, click here.
Cara also finished her pre-school up at Apple Creek. Her teachers said she learned a lot and they really enjoyed her “sense of humor.” Cara is doing well. She is happy it is summer and she can go swimming at Grandma’s house. She has no fear of the water. Mom signed up both up for swim lessons in a few weeks so we can learn swim strokes and proper breathing. Cara is also going to take gymnastics this summer. She likes jumping around a lot!
Our summer baseball league hosted a night at the RoughRiders, which we all went to. We got to wear our jerseys and be on the field for the National Anthem. Some of the players came by and gave us “high fives.” It was a good game and the RR’s won with a walk-off hit – very exciting!
Cara also got to on the field! Grandma and Grandpap came to the game and brought cousin Emily with them. The RR’s have between inning entertainment. Cara and Emily got to play in the “Hungry, hungry hippo” game! Complete with costumes and tu-tus! They had to move as many balls as they could from the middle pool to their pool. They played against a team of boys. They didn’t quite win, but I think they had a great time.
There hasn’t been a lot of resting since summer started. The first week of summer vacation, my friend and baseball teammate Hudson and I headed to Texas Rangers Baseball camp at the Youth Ballpark. It was a week filled of baseball! We worked on fundamentals – hitting, catching and throwing. We got to play a couple of scrimmage games. And, we got to do batting in the Texas Rangers batting cages. We also got a tour of the Ballpark in Arlington and got to sit in the Rangers dugout. It was an incredible experience! My coach was Coach Trent and he is a catcher. There were seven kids in our group, including Hudson. Our moms took turns driving us out to the camp each day.
During camp, they would ask us baseball questions. I was the only kid who knew who pitched a no hitter last week! Johann! Coach Trent said I was doing great, and according to my mom he told her, “Sean’s a great kid.” I think that made her happy!
The last day of camp, everyone came out to watch our last scrimmage and me receive my certificate.
A couple other important first’s this past week. As we were waiting for camp to start, my first tooth fell out! I couldn’t believe, what better place to loose your first tooth than at baseball camp. The tooth next to it is wiggly, so I think it will come out soon too! And, this week, I had my first sleepover! Hudson spent the night so we could head out early in the morning for camp. We played all sorts of games and in the morning watched Sports Center while we ate our breakfast. Interestingly enough, Cara also had her first sleepover this week. She went to Hudson’s house. Hudson’s sister is her good friend, Sophie. The girls also had a good time and I would say a little more wound up than us boys!
Camp is over and summer is now beginning. I got to stay at Grandma’s house last night, which I always love and miss now that I am in school. Our kitchen remodel is also done. Mom is really happy with how everything turned out.
Until next month!
Love, Sean
