Today - I am 2!
Today was my big 2nd birthday and as you can imagine we celebrated in style! We started the day off with breakfast at my favorite restaurant, The Original Pancake House. From there we went to church where I got to stand at the front and everyone clapped for me. Then it was time to get ready for my party. The party was at my house. It was a train-themed party and I even had a train come and take everyone on rides. It was so fun. I did not want to get off the train. It was pretty cold outside (even Daddy thought so!). It was in the high 30s. Although Mommy will tell you it was not as cold as the day I was born – it was 17 degrees out when they were on their way to the hospital to have me. It sure has been a good two years. So many fun things I have learned and so much more there is to do.
I am starting to have quite a few opinions of my own right now. Mommy is not too sure on how to deal with that. For example, sometimes for dinner I will only eat pretzels. And sometimes when we go out to eat I really don’t want to sit in the high chair. Last week at the Pancake House someone had to come help Mommy get me in the chair.
A lot has been going on since I last wrote. First, Daddy went to New Zealand and Australia for work. He was gone for a really long time (10 days), but is back now and does not have but two little trips scheduled for the next four weeks. Mommy’s friend Karen came to visit while Daddy was gone. We did all sorts of fun things – they took me to the park, went shopping, out to eat, went shopping, to a birthday party, went shopping … well, you can see how that goes! It was lots of fun though to have Karen stay with us. And I even did my part as a good host and slept through the night.
After Daddy came back from his adventure overseas, it was time for Grandma’s birthday celebration and then Thanksgiving. I really liked the sweet potatoes and the peas at Thanksgiving. I also like the pumpkin pie, but hey, who doesn’t?! It was extra special because this year Uncle Mike and Aunt Melinda came to Thanksgiving too. It was so fun seeing Uncle Mike again. The week of Thanksgiving, Grandma and Aunt Beth took me to see my first movie in a theatre. I saw “Bees”. Grandma thought it was so cute that I laughed at all the right places.
The day after Thanksgiving was also a very special and fun day. Mommy took me and Daddy to our first ever Texas A&M football game. And this was not just any game, it was THE game, versus Texas. To top it off the Aggies won! I loved every part of my Aggie experience. I saw the Dixie Chicken, Keathly Hall (dorm where Mommy lived) and of course Kyle Field where the Aggies play.
Grandma took me to cousin Abbie’s school last week. She got a big award calling the Shooting Star award and I got to go to the assembly. I sure liked all the kids in school! This week at Grandma’s there was even more excitement. A house down the block was on fire and burned. There were so many fire trucks and police cars in addition to a helicopter. It was very sad that the house burned, but thankfully no one was hurt.
We are getting ready for Christmas down here. Last night we attended the annual family Christmas party. That was also lots of fun. Guess who was also at the party? Santa Claus! I am still not such a fan of the man in the red suit, but I did eventually warm up to him. I wore my tux to the party and was definitely voted “best dressed”! Daddy played Christmas carols and we all sang. It was a wonderful evening.
In addition to the above, I still love my Gymboree friends, Wednesdays spent with Louise and lots of time at Grandma and Grandpap’s house. My Daddy was interviewed for an article that was published both in a magazine and in print. Here it is: http://www.webcpa.com/article.cfm?articleid=26045&searchTerm=kless&page=1. The magazine has a picture of Daddy in it! (OK, so the magazine is Accounting Technology, not People!).
I have my two-year doctor visit tomorrow. Mommy has been counting my words so she can report to the doctor – I think I really impressed her. Once she got to 150 she stopped counting!! She is also charting how often I am “exposed” to different foods. She has been told it will take 10-15 times for me to see something before I will decide that I want it. I don’t think she believes that, hence the spreadsheet. I guess after all the birthday party planning she doesn’t have much to do so charting my food exposure sounded good to her.
Well, that is all for now. Thank you for taking the time to read my notes. It has been a wonderful two years.
Much love, Sean
