I am 20-months old today!
We are going on vacation for a whole week to Canada. Grandma’s good friend has a house in Canada on Lake Huron where we are going to visit. I am very excited. Mommy and Daddy are excited too. They have been on the go quite a bit lately and we could all use some downtime.
We did take a mini-vacation a couple weekends ago to Kansas City. We have friends and there and we loved seeing them. My Grandpap used to work in KC and he knew all the good restaurants to eat at. We went to several of them! We also had a great time visiting the new WWI museum in KC. Very well done. It had lots of airplanes in it. We also visited a neat Crayola place and had lunch at Fritz’s Railroad Restaurant. They had trains deliver your meals to you! I LOVED it. I also got a conductor hat. We took in a Royals game (that’s three major league parks I have been to!). Traveling home on Sunday was just one of those times. Our flight home to Dallas was cancelled, and so were all the flights after ours for that day. We could not get out until the next afternoon. So, Mommy and Daddy had this great idea that we would drive home. It is a nine-hour ride. Well, we got about 20 mins south of KC to be met with lots of black clouds and some of the worst rain ever seen. We went back to our friend’s house and flew home on Monday. As Mommy says, “at least AA had the decency to put us in first class!” so, that was my first trip in first class … I kind of liked it there.
I have been spending a lot of time in the pool this summer. Grandma’s pool is my favorite. I went to a splash park near our house earlier this week with my friends. I have also started going to several two-year old birthday parties! I can’t believe I have friends that old!! (That’s what Mommy says about Daddy!). I still love Gymboree and I even went a sports program this past month. That is where the picture of me fishing with Daddy is from. Fortunately, sports camp was inside. I continue to love my books and am speechless when the Law & Order theme song is on.
I am growing so much. Let’s take my feet for example. Mommy had been putting me in a size 6 sandal all summer and a 4/5 croc. Grandma took me to get measured and you know what my feet were??? One was an 8, the other an 8.5. Well, Grandma bought me some sandals that fit and yesterday Mommy took me to get sneakers to fit.
I can spot Elmo and an ice cream cone from a very long distance. I excitedly say either “Elmo” or “MMMMM” (that means ice cream!). I like all kinds of ice cream, vanilla, chocolate, mint chocolate chip and butter pecan. What’s your favorite flavor? I say so many words now, it is crazy. I can actually communicate with my parents – I wonder how long that will last?! Whenever I see baseball on TV, I say “ball” and I can recognize the NY Mets logo on just about anything! My Daddy is so proud. I also can say my cousin’s names – “Abbie” and “Emily”. I am working on learning all my other cousins as we will see them in October for my Aunt Eileen’s (Daddy’s sister) wedding.
I am going to end on a sad note. You know the baseball coach who was killed during a game in July? He was the uncle of one of my little buddies. He has two sons and a baby on the way. Please send special thoughts to his family. Here is a link to the article. It was a freak accident. I guess it proves that life is short and we should make the most of it while we are here.
I hope you have a terrific rest of the summer.
Love, Sean
