I am 14-months old today!
Hi everyone – the last month can be described by a series of four-letter words starting with s … snow, sick and shot!

We have had a strange winter down here in Texas and have seen snow more than I can ever remember. Being just 1, that isn’t a whole lot of history! We have had some very cold days with snow and ice on the roads. Basically the entire city shuts down. Daddy thinks this is very strange, but he is used to driving in it. We had a great family friend, “uncle” Bill Stout (he’s a five-letter S word) come to visit us. He arrived on one of the ice days, so Daddy drove with Grandma to pick him up at the airport. We had lots of fun with Bill while he was here. We went antiquing (a verb), shopping and ate really well! Bill did some redecorating at my house and Grandma’s – it looks great!
As you guessed by my last two “s” words, it has been a pretty rough month. I have been very healthy up until recently. One night when Daddy was out of town, of course, I had a very high fever. Mommy was very worried about me. We didn’t sleep much that night and then we went to the doctor in the morning. They couldn’t figure out what was wrong with me – chest scan, blood cultures, they pricked my finger, the whole bit – my white blood cell count was extremely high. Then they gave me two shots of antibiotics. The good news is that I started feeling better later that day. We had to go back to the doctor the next day, thank goodness Daddy was home – I don’t think Mommy could have handled another three-hour doctor appointment! My white blood cell count returned to normal, but they had to give me two more shots. I really didn’t like that at all. Mommy had to go out of town that night for a class – we were supposed to go with her, but ended up not going because I was sick. So I got to stay home with Daddy for a couple days!
So, just when I thought no more doctor, a few days later, I was back there again. This time, they did a scan of my sinuses. Turns out I have had a sinus infection and now taking medicine for it. Hopefully this will get me back on the road to recovery. I stopped sleeping through the night a few months ago. I cough and wake myself up, then I cry until Mommy or Daddy comes to get me. The good news is since I have been on my medicine I am sleeping longer and longer through the night. This is a good thing, I overheard something about “gypsies coming to get me if I don’t sleep through the night!!” I think I have worn my Mom out!!
Here’s some better news … I am almost walking – I have taken several steps, but still prefer crawling – I get there faster. I can recognize a dog in a book, on tv and in reality. I point and say “dah”. We went to a fun Super Bowl party at our neighbor’s house. I have been hanging out with my friend Sawyer (18 months old) who lives down the street. I like to make my Mom crazy by changing what I will eat/not eat on a daily basis. I can recognize Grandma’s car and love it when Grandpap comes home from work early to see me. He lets me play with the mail. I love seeing my cousin Abbie and playing with her. I really enjoy taking everything out of the kitchen cabinets and putting it on the floor. I am not too keen on putting it back though. I love my Legos and love to play piano with my Daddy. I am climbing all over the place. I can get on top of all sorts of things. I even try to climb up the slide at Gymboree. I am constantly talking and pointing.
We hope you all are well. I am getting very excited as soon I will have another new cousin. My Aunt Eileen is due to have her baby in late March! Her name will be Jessica Nicole! And my Auntie Rachel’s baby is coming in late April/early May. Her name is Emily Claire. I am very excited about the new babies, even if they are girls!!
Happy Valentine’s Day everyone! This day is extra special too – it is my great-grandma’s birthday. She would have been 101 today. I wish I could have met her.
Love you all,
xoxo, Sean Michael
