I am 13-months old today!
Well, I am into my second year. The last month has been pretty exciting and fun. Following my first birthday, which I was not sure anything could top, Christmas came! WOW that was a great time! I had so much fun pulling on paper and playing with toys and being with my family. My Uncle Mike and Aunt Melinda came to visit too, they even stayed with me for a night. I had a wonderful Christmas and received lots of gifts. I must have been pretty good this year. My cousin Abbie got a four wheeler for Christmas. Since she lives so close, she drove it over Christmas morning so I could see it. I can’t wait to get a ride on it. I also participated in our families’ annual Christmas cookie decorating contest. A contest that my Daddy has dominated in the last few years. This year though Auntie Rachel won. Mommy came in a very close second. I mainly enjoyed eating cookies and icing.
The day after Christmas, we had my whole family to my house for dinner. Mommy cooked a huge meal. Then Daddy (and me) played on the piano so we could all sing. It was a great memory.
Mommy and Daddy have been traveling together without me this month. In mid-December they went to Connecticut for work. I stayed with Grandma and Grandpap, which always is fun. Then there was the big trip when Mommy and Daddy left me on Thursday before New Year's and did not return until the following Tuesday to get me! I again stayed with Grandma, Pap Pap and Aunt Beth. I had a really good time and didn’t even miss them too much. They went to Northern California for a long weekend. They said where they stayed was beautiful. It overlooked the Pacific Ocean and it had an outside hot tub! They enjoyed visiting wineries and sleeping in.
As for me … I enjoyed everything I got to do. I went to visit several of Grandma’s friends and met many doggies along the way. Then, on New Year’s Eve, Grandma and Aunt Beth took me to an art museum to see a Van Gogh exhibit. The pictures were very pretty. There were many ladies there who made a big fuss over me, which I liked too! New Year’s Eve night, we went to Auntie Rachel, Uncle Rich and Abbie’s house for a party. I have to be honest, I was asleep before midnight, which seemed to be ok with everyone. New Year’s day was spent watching parades and football. I was very excited when Mommy showed up to get me! She brought me a new book and t-shirt from their trip.
Long-time family friends Jim and Mary Ann Alexander came to Grandma’s house on their trek from PA to Oregon where they are moving. We had a very nice dinner with them. Later this month, Mary Ann’s brother, “Uncle” Bill will come to visit us in Texas. He is truly one of a kind!
Last weekend, Mommy and Daddy took me to see a musical performance featuring the “woodwind” family of instruments. I sat very quiet and still throughout the entire performance.
We have resumed our Gymboree group on Thursdays, which is something special to do with Mommy. I am “walking” around the furniture and have taken a couple of steps by myself. I do find that I am a faster crawler than walker, so I prefer crawling. I got a piano for Christmas and that is one of my favorite toys. Grandma took down all the Christmas decorations last weekend and all my little musical friends are put away. I was really hoping that Frosty would stay all year so I could play with him. Oh well … just something to look forward to.
I hope everything is going well for you and that I get to see you soon!
Happy New Year!
Love, Sean
