Today I am 109-months old!
Hello and happy 2015!
Another year has flown by. We had a terrific holiday! Dad was off work for a couple of weeks, so we had a really nice time relaxing, spending time with family and enjoying the spirit of the season.
December is pretty much an insane month full of festivities and celebrations. We celebrated my 9th birthday with a trip to see Santa Claus and then out to dinner. We rounded out the night with basketball practice!
Daddy and Cara went to the Daddy-Daughter dance again this year. It was a “Frozen” them, so Cara wore her “Elsa” dress. They had a nice evening together. Mom took me to Toys R Us that night so I could pick out a Christmas gift for Cara. There are so many fun things to do to prepare for Christmas. This year, we went to Allen Community Theatre to see the play “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.” Several school friends were in the play and it was neat to see them. Cara and Mom went and saw a couple other friends in the Nutcracker. Dad and I stayed home for that one and built Legos.
Cara once again participated in our church’s Christmas pageant. She was an angel. I opted not to do the pageant again this year. I helped out here and there and was the official photographer during the pageant. Cara did a great job - she knows most of the songs and all of the hand motions. We celebrated her success that evening with a big dinner at our house afterward.
For the last five years, we have met with our group of friends to decorate Gingerbread houses. It is always nice to see our friends we have had since I was a baby.
Finally Christmas was here! We are always happy to see Uncle Mike & Aunt Melinda from Austin.
Cara and I had been planning our 2nd annual family Christmas soccer tournament. Brackets were ready. All Star teams named. But, we didn’t anticipate all of the rain. The pitch (backyard) was just too wet to play. We opted for another form of indoor competition … race car driving! I got a really cool Anki Race car set for Christmas. We raced against each other and alas, I was the victor! I really loved that everyone was into the tournament and so flexible when we had to change the game. I also love that some family members came in costume! Check out my Uncle Rich’s awesome hair!
Another great part of December is having a couple weeks off of school. It was a nice time to relax around the house, see some movies, play a lot of Minecraft and read. We all did just that. We celebrated Aunt Beth’s birthday, went to a couple Allen American hockey games and got to spend time at Grandma’s house. We spent time with friends and went to the Perot museum. Needless to say, when January rolled around and it was time to return to school, well, it was a little bit of a letdown.
There is lots to look forward to though! We will have lots of basketball this month and we will play in a tournament. I have loved keeping up with the Duke basketball team. I am hoping for more Allen Americans hockey!
Hope everyone is well!
xoxo, Sean
