I am 83-months old today!

A whole heck of a lot has been happening this month … so let’s get going! My baseball team, the Royal Rangers, had our first “fall classic!” We played in a mid-season tournament where our team won 2nd place. On the last day of the tournament, we played three games in a row in 50 degree weather and wind. It was AWESOME! Baseball season wraps up this weekend. I will miss playing with my friends, but the good news is basketball practice starts on Tuesday!

On October 23, my little sister Cara turned 4! I can’t believe I haveDSC_0079 known her her whole life. She had a fun birthday party with a few friends. They decorated cupcakes in the backyard and played. It was a really fun day. Mommy made a video of Cara’s life so far, you can click here to see it. The same day, Mom and Dad celebrated eight years of marriage. We celebrated Grandpap’s birthday too with a family celebration.

Dad’s campaign wrapped up earlier this week on election day. While he did not get elected, he ran a great campaign and we are very proud of him. We appreciate everyone who supported us. Our neighbors the Suttons hosted an event for the neighborhood. Dad  participated in a debate with the other two candidates that I got to attend. I was very interested and paid attention the entire time. I met the other two candidates and I think they were pretty impressed that I came.

Daddy also came to school to talk to the entire first grade class about running in an election. He talked about the importance of voting and he shared all the awesome things we did in his campaign.

Halloween was awesome, as always! I dressed up as an Aggie football player. The Aggie QB this year is outstanding! His name is Johnny and the announcers have given him the nickname of “Johnny Football.” Mom kept calling me “Seanny Football!” One sad thing, was on the way home from school on Halloween, I trip and rolled my ankle. It caused me to miss two baseball games. Halloween was tough, but I managed to hobble through it! Cara was a PIG! She had wanted to be a pig for months. Mom wore a football field costume and Cara wanted someone to complement her costume – of course for a pig, that would be MUD! Daddy was a good sport and wore a brown piece of felt to be Cara’s mud. A few days before we carved pumpkins. I liked the black cat and Cara wanted mom to carve her a princess crown. I think mom did a pretty good job!

At school on Halloween, we did a bunch of pumpkin activities. We broke into groups and did estimates and actuals. Mom got to come and spend the morning helping in our class.

Halloween night started with a few special neighborhood stops, including next-door neighbors and good friends, the Suttons. Next was a trip to the park to meet up with all my first-grade friends. We did this last year and it was fun to see everyone in costume.

Next we headed to my cousin’s house for a party and trick-or-treats! It is always fun to see Grandma dressed up. She was a frog this year. Aunt Beth was the zebra from Madagascar!

We celebrated Dad and Mom’s birthdays too this last month! So many celebrations!

This morning, our school hosted their 10th annual Veteran’s Day celebration. It is really awesome. The choir sings and members of the Allen HS band come and play. There is a big breakfast and we get to introduce our Veteran. For the second year, I brought Grandpap with me. He wrote up some things for me to say when I introduced him.

(unfortunately it is only half of it as Mommy messed it up). Afterwards there was a parade throughout the school. It was very special to spend this with Grandpap! Here is everything he wrote:

“I would like to introduce my grandfather, Dale Heidenreich. He was vet daya first lieutenant in the United States Army Infantry. He served as a rifle company platoon leader on the DMZ in Korea for 13 months.

My mom was his first child and she was born while he was in Korea. He did not get to hold her until she was 9 months old. It was great having him in the hospital the day I was born. Thank you.”

Until next month … when I will turn 7!
Happy Thanksgiving!

Love, Sean
