Today I am 61-months old!

Hello and Happy New Year!

DSC_0029I can’t believe another year has passed. The last month of the year is always a packed one full of really good times. As you may recall, last month was my fifth birthday! I had an awesome day! Since there were a lot of pictures from the day and then my party, Mommy put together a whole album along with a play-by-play for you.

Highlights included a trip to the Pancake House, then a visit to the ICE exhibit at the Gaylord Texan. The exhibit was Charlie Brown Christmas, all made from ice! It was awesome, very cold, but awesome. Then we went to dinner at a restaurant at the Texan, it was great. Two days later on the 11th, I had my hockey-themed birthday party. It was lots of fun. One of my favorite gifts were the “Hockey guys.” I love making up games and plays.

After finishing up the birthday festivities and pre-school for the year, we could get totally into Christmas. Mommy planned lots of fun activities for us – we painted hot cocoa mugs, decorated gingerbread houses, made cookies and picked out our family Christmas tree. We also attended the sixth annual family Christmas party at the Lakes’ house. That was awesome! The highlight of the evening was when we all went caroling. We piled in a low-boy trailer and went through the neighborhood. Christmas week was lots of fun. We decorated our tree in preparation for Christmas!

On Christmas Eve, I sang in our church’s Christmas pageant. This year I was an angel. I knew several of the songs because we listened to a CD in the car. What was really fun was that Cara knew a few of the songs too! She amazed all of us with her DSC_0105singing on Christmas Eve! After Mass, it was on to Grandma and Grandpap’s house for dinner and presents! I received so many fun gifts this year. In addition to the Hockey guys I mentioned above, I also got “Baseball guys.” We headed home to go to sleep and wait for Santa.

DSC_0266Christmas morning came and so did Santa! He brought Cara and I bikes! I am very excited about learning how to ride them. I also got “Football guys.” Like I mentioned, it was a popular gift. One of my favorite activities was putting together a replica of the Winter Classic with the Football/Hockey guys. Daddy sent the company my picture and they put it on their website!

I loved spending Christmas with my family and being around everyone. We had everyone to our house on Dec. 26 for dinner, which was lots of fun. I love seeing my cousins! For New Years, we were invited by friends to a minor league hockey game and after the game we skated with the players. Here is a link to our 2010 Christmas in photos.

I have started taking skating lessons and my dad is taking them too! I really want to play hockey, so this is where I am starting out. I also am in Phonics class a couple days a week and am doing well. I can’t wait to learn to read the sports page.

My sister Cara (26 months) is a lot of fun. Although, she does take my “guys” from time to time, and that annoys me. She did pick up one hockey guy and said “This is Sidney Crosby!” Wow! I guess she has been paying attention to me. Cara loved Christmas and all of the fun activities we did. She looked so pretty in her Christmas dress. Sadly, Cara went to the ER on New Year’s day with a split lip. She got two stitches inside her mouth. Luckily, the mouth still works. She hasn’t stopped talking or eating!

We are enjoying several weeks of Daddy being home and not traveling. Mommy had a list of projects for him to do and he is currently painting our kitchen. Today is a very cold and wet day in North Texas with the possibility of snow. I am hoping for some snow to play in later on today.

Here are some fun videos too that Daddy put together and you might enjoy:

We hope the new year is a good one for you – full of health and happiness (and hockey!),
