I am 44-months old today

As we say here in Texas, yup, it’s still summer. Although, I have to say, it has not been as brutal as Julys past. We have had quite a bit of rain and lower temperatures. I have spent my fair share of time in Grandma’s pool, which I love, and we’ve been to the splash park a few times too.

Cowboy hats A few summer programs have come to an end. I finished up the library program and read my 600 minutes this summer! So, I will get to pick out a new book at the library. I finished another session of tee ball. At three of the classes there was no one in there but me, so I got private lessons! My new favorite thing is to have someone pitch to me. I do pretty well hitting the ball, although Mommy is not the best pitcher. Grandma and Daddy are pretty good!

I also attended two weeks of Bible Camp at the church I go to for preschool. It was fun and my good buddy Megan was in my class both weeks. Another highlight this month was the opening of the Lego store at the mall. I LOVE Legos and I really love the Lego store. I have taken both Mommy and Daddy to the store. (Mommy would like me to tell you that Daddy spent A LOT more in the store than when she took me!) I like to build baseball stadiums and warehouses and have gotten pretty good at it.

FW with Kinky Friedman A big highlight this past month was a mini-family vacation to Fort Worth. Mommy always likes to do a trial vacation run before our big vacation to work out an kinks on the logistics side of things. I loved our trip to Fort Worth. We went to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing where the print money (that was pretty cool!). We met Kinky Friedman at a cigar shop in FW (yes, my parents dragged us in a cigar shop). We hope the Kinkster will be the next governor of Texas. We ate at Joe T. Garcia’s (twice), visited the Stockyards (where we saw a cattle drive), walked around Sundance Square and of course visited the Ft. Worth Zoo. The Zoo was fantastic. My favorite animals were the giraffes and elephants, I didn’t like the lions at all (they were roaring) and wasn’t so sure about the snakes (OK, the snakes was Mommy, she went into the reptile area, but I don’t think she was too happy about it). Of course an absolute highlight was staying in the hotel! It was an Embassy Suites – a member of the Hilton family – so that was good with me. There was a pool that was swam in both nights that I really enjoyed. And, I got to sleep on a couch that became a bed! How cool is that?! all in all, a great time.

FW reading Cara is great! She likes to play with mostly my toys. Ha ha ha. She crawls all over the house and tries to get up the stairs. She pulls up on everything and Mommy says she is a really good eater – already eating table foods. She sleeps 12 hours at night and Mommy is doing much better with getting her to nap during the afternoon. I love my sister. Mommy thinks it is so sweet when I kiss the top of her head and tell her “I love you Cara.” She is now learning how to wave “bye bye.”

My Papa in NY is doing better. He has been moved to a place closer to home, which has made it easier on our family. My sister is having her eye surgery on August 17. Please send a special thought our way. Especially for Mommy, she’s a bit nervous about the whole thing. When the anesthesiologist called to talk to her, the doctor asked if Cara was having any signs of “separation anxiety” because they could give Cara a little drink to help mellow her out before taking her to be prepped for surgery. I think Mommy was interested in a drink to mellow herself out!

Tomorrow we are heading to our vacation at our friend’s the Hansen’s in Detroit Lakes, MN. I am excited to ride on an American Airlines plane and we plan to go to a Twins game! I also heard rumors of a four-story Lego store at the Mall of America!

Have a great month.

Love, Sean
