Upon Further Review...
Those of you familiar with the title phrase, will note that I am referencing the words used by football referees when the are about to either overturn or confirm a ruling on the field of play.Well, my friends, that is exactly what is happening here.I have reviewed the possibilities and have decided that I am withdrawing my name for consideration by the Libertarian Party of Texas for nomination as its candidate for Lieutenant Governor.Instead, I am casting a new line. I intend to seek the support of the majority of the delegates at the 2014 state convention for the position of State Chair of the Libertarian Party of Texas.I do this for many reasons, but those that are worth mentioning include:
- The current Chair, Patrick Dixon, who will have served for a decade, has decided to not seek the position again. I salute him for his activism and sharing of his time and talent with us for these past ten years. I can only hope to be a successor that is half as capable.
- Tom Glass, the current vice chair, has decided to seek the party's nomination for attorney general, a position for which I find him to be particularly well suited, and because of this he will not be seeking the chairmanship.
- Brandon de Hoyos, who for this brief period has been my "opponent" for the nomination will be a worthy and able candidate. I have spoken with him a few times and he has gained my utmost respect and admiration in a very brief period of time.
- My wife, Christine Kless, has been my advisor and confidant in this decision and she continues to give me her unconditional commitment.
My thanks to all of you who have supported me. I hope you will continue to do so. As a candidate for party chair, I can and will continue to accept political donations. In a way, they are even more important now. If you are willing and able, please go to my donation page and contribute an amount you feel proper, even $5 helps.Yours in Liberty,Ed Kless
