The Murky Path to Citizenship

A friend of mine passed this graphic (courtesy reason.com) along earlier this week. In his email he asks:

How about we replace the perverse incentives with free market solutions?For starters: 1) privatize and streamline processes, penalize violators 2) reform drug laws, abolish the black market's lucrative profit margins and reduce border violence, 3) repeal birthright citizenship and provide a path to legal citizenship.Others?

I would add increase the number and duration of temporary work visas that are available and allow a possible path to green card status for these folks. Click for full-size image.
