On the Oil Spill
I am about 10 days behind on this, but in light of the fact that the oil leak in the gulf seems to be plugged, I need to write about this post from Paul Krugman on why he thinks Libertarianism does not work.
This is a classic example of inverting cause and effect. Was it Libertarians who insisted that companies must only drill in deep water thereby restricting the ability to plug this type of leak? No, it was not. Was it Libertarians who limited the liability of BP and other oil companies to $75 million? No, it was not.
Krugman presents Sen. Lisa Murkowski efforts to block the raising of the liability for spills of this nature as Libertarian. I believe this to be clearly disingenuous on his part.
