On Health Care and a First Plea for Money

I have received many emails and Facebook posts from family and friends about the the health care bill which passed the US House of Representative last night (Sunday, March 21).

I want to state unequivocally that I am against this legislation and that if elected to the Texas Senate in November, I will work to craft and proposed legislation calling for Texas to “opt out” of this horrific bill. Honestly, I am not sure what is legal at this point, but will investigate it and do everything in my power to stop this from effecting Texans.

I do know that 38 states have either introduced or plan to introduce legislation or begin legal action. Sadly, Texas is not one of these states as reported on Fox News yesterday.

Please note that I believe that the legislators in Washington truly believe they have the best interest of the people of the United States at heart. However, I think they are sorely misguided. As I have said before, “good intentions seldom make for sound economic policy.” I believe this is the case with healthcare.

Also, now that I am the official Libertarian candidate, I hereby make an appeal to each of you to donate to the cause of Liberty by making a campaign contribution. Please know that as a grass roots campaign even $5 will help. If you cannot give, I understand, but please tell your friends about my campaign site or Facebook Fan Page. You can contribute if you are not in my district or even in Texas. As long as you are a citizen or permanent resident of the United States, you are allowed to donate.

I believe nothing will send shock waves through the political class than electing some Libertarians at any level of government.

In Liberty,

Ed
